News from the Parochial Church Council January 2018

At the PCC meeting on 18 January, topics discussed included:

Retiring Director of Music
The Rector reminded PCC members about the retirement party for Alan Wilson on 2 February following the Mass for Candlemas. He was happy to report that, through the generosity of Alan’s many friends, a considerable amount of money had been raised towards a retirement gift.

Church Environmental Policy
The Rector reported that Michael Byrne, Finance Officer, is organising a 'clean up' session on the banks of the Thames as part of a litter monitoring project based in Hammersmith. It has subsequently been confirmed that this Parish event will take place on Saturday 10 March at 2.00pm.

Tower Project
It is planned to start the work on the Church Tower on 1 September 2018. The Rector and Church Warden are working closely with the architect and structural engineers with a view to putting the work out to tender. Meanwhile, following a survey of the netting arrangements, the Church’s structural engineer has confirmed that the Tower is safe.

This year, rather than a course, the Bank Churches are holding a Lecture on Monday 26 February at 6.00pm at St Mary-le-Bow. The Reverend Rob Merchant, tutor at St Mellitus College, will deliver a lecture entitled 'Forgetful in Lent'.

Confirmation of the election of new Bishop of London at
St Mary-le-Bow
The confirmation of Sarah Mullaly as Bishop of London in the Church will take place at 4.00pm on 8 March.

Mission Action Plan 2017 – 2022 – Vision/Values
The work on the Mission Action Plan is being led by Dan Warnke, Parish Ordinand and Church Administrator. At this PCC meeting, Dan invited PCC members to discuss in small groups how they felt the values of the Church might best be defined to form the basis for the Church’s vision going forward over the next few years. Dan will be drawing together the threads of the PCC’s deliberations into a finalised version of the MAP which it is hoped to bring to the APCM on 19 April.
