International Rectors' & Deans' Conference 2010

This year hosted in London by the Rector of St Mary-le-Bow, a full week of events and discussions was enjoyed by rectors and deans from major cities around the globe. The week coincided with the blessing of our new organ, by the Rector of Trinity Wall Street, New York.

 

 

24th June

Blessing of the New Organ

The new organ by Kenneth Tickell & Company was blessed during the evening Sung Eucharist. The Rector of Trinity Wall Street, New York City, the Revd Dr James Cooper, blessed the instrument. The organ is still undergoing voicing and will be inaugurated at a recital given by Thomas Trotter on the 29th September. 22nd June

Cheapside Debate

‘Power to the people? A reflection on the general election in City and Nation’

A Cheapside Debate, coinciding with the Chancellor's Emergency Budget Speech,

on Tuesday 22nd June at 1.05pm

Speakers: Professor Peter Hennessy (Attlee Professor of Contemporary British History, Queen Mary, University of London) and Sir David Clementi (former Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, former Chairman of Prudential plc, Warden of Winchester College)

 

16th May

St Mary-le-Bow was the starting point for a charity walk organised to support Christian Aid Week. The Circle the City Walk began with a short service at the church and then walkers visited 15 other historic places of worship in the City.

 

May & June

A herd of brightly coloured baby elephants, decorated by well-known artists, have invaded London! The aim of the London Elephant Parade is to raise £2million towards the conservation of the Asian Elephant. One such creature currently resides in Bow Churchyard.
