We enjoyed a - slightly chilly, but dry - summer's evening of Jazz, staged in the Churchyard, with members of Kansas Smitty's.

Steeple Keeper Simon Meyer writes:
The 2016 Ringing World National Youth Striking Competition was centred on St Mary-le-Bow on 2nd July. This was probably the biggest bell ringing event ever staged, with 192 youngsters competing for the Whitechapel Trophy. Each band was accompanied by supporters and adult leaders plus dozens of expert helpers, many from the leading London societies (the Ancient Society of College Youths and the Society of Royal Cumberland Youths) giving the young ringers the opportunity to ring with some of the leading members of the exercise.
Competition ringing was held in a number of churches across the City but Bow Bells, along with St Lawrence Jewry & St Martin-in-the-Fields were opened up to give the youngsters the opportunity to ring on these prestigious bells.
Appropriately the University of London Society of Ringers played a key part in the organisation of the day – youngsters organising ringing for other youngsters. There were around 400 crammed into the church for the results where the Bedfordshire band were declared victorious.
